Show 16 MONTHS FOB RUNNING STILL Joseph Neff of Eureka Given Limit by Federal Judge Tillman D. Johnson SALT LAKE. April 17. Pleading guilty to operating a Bmall still at Eu-roka, Eu-roka, Joseph Neff was sentenced to six months imprisonment by Judge Tillman Till-man D. Johnson of the United States district court today. Neff's partner, Oscar Bloom, who was arrested with him, February 16, Is ill in a hospital and could not appear ap-pear for arraignment. District Attorney Isaac Blair Evans, told tho court the evidence showed that Neff and Bloom had been selling moonshine to minors at Eureka. Upon being questioned by Judge Johnson, Neff said he had made only a small quantity, of moonshine and that he had not sold any of lu He said he had npt even given any away as ho only had a gallon. He told tho court he was an electrician and had always worked hard for a living. Fur- thermore, he said he had a wife andj two children. i "Upon your statement of the case," said Judge Johnson, "1 cannot seo the slightest excuse for you. You are educated ed-ucated and have been able to make an honest living. Nevertheless you deliberately de-liberately break tho law and take tho chance of bringing disgrace upon your family." Upon inquiring the extent of the possible pos-sible penalty from the district attorney attor-ney and learning it could be 6 months or a fine of S1000, the court gave the prisoner the full six months.
