Show Arranging Welcome for Hockey Players 1 VNTYI-:ilV. April 17 The American Ameri-can embassy i arranging an elaborate welcome for ihc American hockey and skating teams which are expected to airhe Monday night to compete in the opening events of the Olympic games of 1920. The Belgian crown prince r.nd probably Prince Albert will attend the contests at the Antwerp Ant-werp palace beginning Friday and continuing until April 29. The United States hockey team will-face will-face six opposing nations, entries having hav-ing been made by Canada. France, Sweden, Belgium. . Czecho-Slovakia and Switzerland. It is expected that the hockey series will consist of ten games. All seven teams will play an elimination elimi-nation match for first place and the championship being held April 26, after af-ter which the five sevens eliminated in the early rounds will meet in a second series for third place honors. Following the final match April 29 there will be spoclal ceremonies in connection with the distribution of the first trophies in the seven scries of Olympic games. ' For the figure skating champions eleven nations are entered, Italy, England, Eng-land, Finland and Norway having entered en-tered the lists in addition to those countries which are represented In the hockey tournament Antwerp sportsmen sports-men have made the Canadian and Czecho-Slovak hockey teams favorites but there is an outstanding favorite for the figure skating, in which the United States is represented. |
