Show BOLSHEVISM IS TOPJCOF TALK Monroe Williams Addresses Gathering on Alleged False Social Standards Advocating a change of "false" social so-cial standards as a means of eliminating eliminat-ing danger of bolshevism, Monroe Williams addressed a gathering in the council chamber of the city hall last nighL Williams suggested that all In-'dustries In-'dustries producing and distributing necessities ne-cessities of life be the property of the people, and that they bo operated on a basis which eliminated any profit whatever. He states that this idea has been successfully introduced in the Panama canal zone by the government, and that all employes receive, in addition to their wages, the direct results of their labor In the shape of living necessities, ne-cessities, houses, commissary store that sells at cost, and other features that give them opportunity to lay money aside for their old age. Under the present system at the canal can-al zone, Panama, he claims that a man is given a chance to reap the fruits of his efforts and. does not hayo to contend con-tend with money-grabbers, who charge exhorbltant prices for necessities. Mr. Williams endeavored to provp that through legislation, various facilities facil-ities now privately owned, such as telephones, tel-ephones, electric lights, railroads and other utilities owned by corporations, could be owned by the people and operated oper-ated so that all shared the benefits equally. He characterized his idea as the "brotherhood of man" system ad said that under this conditiun, social unrest un-rest would be a thing of the past, there being no extremes of poverty and of great wealth, but a middle line on, which the social order of the world would be at normal oo |
