Show PIONEER MERCHANT EXPIRES IN OGDEN John A. Boyle, Former Mayor, Su'c-cumbs Su'c-cumbs at Advanced Age; Was a Native of Scotland. Special to The Tribune, OGDEN, March 24. John A. Boylo, 71 years of ago, a former mayor of Ogden and pioneer merchant, died at his home, 540 Twenty-eighth street, at an early hour this morning, death resulting re-sulting from Bright 's disease. Born in Scotland October 7, 1S46, Mr. Boyle came to America with his parents whoa he was a boy and finally to Utah in 1855. He remained a resident of Ogden Og-den throughout the remainder of his life. In his years of young manhood Mr. Boyle engaged with his father in the manufacture of furniture and later established es-tablished a furnituro business, with which he was connected until 1890. After that time he was engaged in the banking business and also operated a hardware store. It was only a few years ago that he retired from active management! of the hardware business. Mr. Boyle was prominent in the civic and political life of this city and county, coun-ty, serving three terms as county treasurer treas-urer and three terms as city councilman. council-man. In 1S9S he was elected mayor and served one term. Besides the wifn he is survived by three daughters and four sons. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon with services in the : Second ward chapel at 2 o'clock, ln-j ln-j terment in Ogden Oitv cemetery. |
