I', and Murray high schools, the Jordan lilsh school took first place by scorlns 113 points. Granite camo second, with 102 points. Murray third with S3 points and the L. L.'. 8. U. last with ii8 points. This tournament was held as a trial and proved very successful in giving all the boys In the various schools a chance to represent and take part In sports of their schools. Tho classification of teams was made as follows: Class midgets, 115 A. Class, 115 n class, 135 A class. 135 B class, un limited A class, unlimited B class and freshman class. Tho scoring was arranged ar-ranged so that seven points were given for the highest score in each game, three points were allowed lor conduct of the contending teams, one point vas"wed the team making the fewest foTTsit each game, and at tho close of the serti'3". the team having the greatest number of points was declared the winner. Tho series system proved the ability of the entire school and not simply tho ability of a trained squad. In all there were forty-two games played and the results re-sults were as follows: Team. Won. U 8. 13 , Totals 42 This group athletic system has proved so successful and of such a high physical , educational value that It will probably be adopted by the same schools next ) ysar and also by a number of others. It has the valuable effect of stimulating s the Interest in high school work, furnish- ; lng bodily development for the school as a whole and making possible a cleaner spirit In athletics, as well as developing greater efficiency in this line. |
