Show SERAPHS AT LAST GET RED KILLIFER Special to The Tribune. LOS ANGELES,' Cal., March 24. After a month of dickering, the Los Angeles An-geles club today purchased Outfielder Red Killifer from the Columbus club of the American association. The local club paid $1000 and traded Shortstop Art But-h-.r for Killifer. It was stipulated that $2o0 was to be returned to the Angels if Butler signed with Columbus or was sold or traded by that club. Manager Chance was greatly relieved when he concluded the deal. "The deal completes my outfield," said Chance. "Meusel will play left field, Killifer Kil-lifer center Held and Maggert right field when the Angels open against Oakland. I had to secure Killifer at once, as I intend in-tend to start signal practice Monday, and I want all of my regulars on the field." Chance outlined the remainder of his club as follows: Glelehmann, first ba,se; Gardner or Oroeling. second base; Davis, shortstop; Schultz. third base. Schilz. young local outfielder, will be retained as utility outfielder, and Groeling as utility infielder. Gardner, veteran Toledo second baseman, base-man, is expected to report here Sunday. Chance worked his men out today in the positions which they will fill in the opening game. |
