LONDON, March 24. Beautiful Ex-moor, Ex-moor, a famous estate where wild ponies, wild deer and other animals roam at will, is to be preserved in its pristine glory for the British nation. Three of the Acland family, who own most of this Devon-Somerset wilderness, have united in granting Exmoor on lease to the National Trust, a government corporation, cor-poration, for 500 years. They are Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, his brother, the Right Hon. Arthur Acland, and his nephew, the Right Hon. Francis Dyke Acland, who was minister of agriculture in the last Asquith cabinet. The latter is quite well known in America. The lease is so devised that the Ac-lands Ac-lands will enjoy their rents and other rights and powers as owners, but will not be able to alienate the land or develop de-velop the property for building, agriculture agricul-ture or Industrial purposes. |
