Show CIVIL SERVICE RULE CAUSING PROTEST Special to The Tribune. WASHINGTON, March 24. The first application in Utah of the new civil service rule under which postmasters postmas-ters at presidential ollices will be retained is bringing to the post-oflice post-oflice department a number of protests from Utah Democrats. The rule will apply to the postmaster-ship postmaster-ship at Monroe, which has recently been a presidential office and where the postmaster post-master is a Republican who has held the oflice under its fourth-class status. Bringing the office into the presidential presiden-tial class makes it a plum which the Democrats assert should be given to one of their party faith. The present postmaster post-master is said to be entirely efficient and capable of passing the required examination ex-amination for retention. |
