FACTORIES ID III These are strenuous days for shipping clerks, according to K. A. Charron, sales manager of the Utah-Idaho Motor company, com-pany, local Premier distributors. Speaking of the freight car shortage which has kept local automobile dealers guessing this season, Mr. Charron said: When a shipping clerk sees an unengaged un-engaged freight car he runs and falls on its neck, so to speak weeping for joy. The fact is that nearly all of the perfectly nice freight cars are waiting calmlv in New York for somebody to unload them. No one is feeling the freight car shortage as badly as the motor car manufacturers, and no motor car center is hit as hard as Detroit. Up in Detroit when they want a freight car tHey have to take it up with Toledo. Most of the Detroit factories fac-tories prefer to drive their cars overland. The' are driving to Chicago, Chi-cago, Cleveland, Indianapolis in fact to all points within a radius of 400 miles. And in many instances where cars are to go on a long haul they are driven to some town with better railway facilities than Detroit De-troit and then shipped. Indianapolis seems to be about the only automobile town that is getting by with comparatively little lit-tle inconvenience, this being due to her remarkable railroad facilities. Cars going east, west, north or south usually make the trip through Indianapolis, and the IndianapoFis factories are not slow to take advantage ad-vantage of this fact. The Premier manufacturers were wiser than they knew when they located in Indianapolis. The advantages advan-tages of real railroad facilitiea were never more strikingly shown. Premiers Pre-miers are beiug shipped with duo regularity from the factorv. Last week the Premier manufacturers shipped 121 Premier cars, which is at the rate of 6292 cars a year. The Premier officials claim that their schedule will be up to 150 cars a week in the near future, and the next step will be 200. Such volume for the first year on a car in the Premier price class is unheard of but all indications point to the' Premier's Pre-mier's ability to make it.
