With t)ni approach of spring weather, th1 interest of the West hili school has leen turiu'tl to the two major spring snorts, basebtill and track, A number of men are left from last vear's championship cham-pionship nine to warrant a successful season in this department, while out of the Inrjje list of recruits trying out for places on the track team a fair showing no doubt will be made. The campus has been iu no thnpe to lake care of the hall tossers and trad; men, and all of the baseball vork has been confined to the gymnasium and dry sidewalks, while the indoor track and Second West have been the working places of the cinder path artists. Heal wink in baseball and track will Ft art this week. The interclass baseball series will take place this week, while , the class t rack meet will not be held until the middle of next month. That athletic relations between the West hitfh and Granite have been patched has been shown by the arrangement arrange-ment of the first basehall contest to take place between, the two schools, on April 11. Since the fierce hoop struggle strug-gle last year no contests have taken place, but from now on more friendly relations will no doubt exist. A second sec-ond tjame has been arranged for May 2 between the two schools. It is necessavv for Coach "Richardson to run off the class series this week so as to yit'k his first team and engage in practice before the initial contest. A large number of "H" men have returned to school from last year 's championship nine and the Panther supporters are expecting another title. Many promising recruits have also been working out daily, and several stars are expected to develop in the class games. "H" men will be allowed to participate partici-pate in these contests, as Coach Eichard-pon Eichard-pon thinks it necessary to have the regulars engage in these games to get into the proper condition. Alt indications point to an easy title for the juniors. They have a" large group of WH'' men iu their midst and should have no trouble in annexing the championship. Last year the same bunch were only nosed out of the flag by a freak home run by the seniors, having an easy time disposing of all the other nines. Fallentine and R. Brown -will proba-' proba-' bly form the battery for the juniors. McGanney, Kaufman, Hancock, and Leonard are booked for the infield iobs, while Davis, together with the pick of a number of aspirants, will deck tho outfield. All of those mentioned are " H ' ' men with the exception of Leonard and have had considerable experience. ex-perience. The sophs, with Peake, Passer, Walker, Wal-ker, Nathan, Pyke, Barker, Funk and Polette from last year's class team, again are working well, and much other material has shown up, which will form & fast club. Only a few eeniors are trying out. This class has been hit hard by the departure de-parture of a nnmbor of their "first-rate tossers. Les Dykes, Robinson, Dallas and Spence are the onlv ones left from last year's crack squael, and considerable consider-able patching is due to take place to get a senior nine on the field. On Monday the juniors and frcshies will combat in the first game, but on the remaining days of the week double headers will be played each afternoon. In order to have both games the first will start promptly at 3 o'clock and the teams coming on the field late will forfeit. for-feit. All games will go seven inning. in-ning. The elass Bchedule follow-s: March 26 Freshmen vs. Juniors. March 27 Juniors vs. Seniors; Sophomores Sopho-mores vs. Freshmen. March 8 Seniors vs. Freshmen; Sophomores vs. Juniors. March 29 Juniors vs Seniors; Soph- omores vs. FVeshmen. March 30 Freshmen vs. Juniors; Sophomores vs. Seniors. Coach Richardson will devote most of his time to track this year, and with a large number of recruits out dailv the Panther mentor should be able to develop de-velop a fast team. Melvin Snelgrove will act ns assistant coach, caring for the baseball team. Vcrn Funk is the only "IT"' man at prhool, taking third place in the mile in the state meet. None of the men who placed in the division meet have returned re-turned and a hard season's work is in store for the path men. Already the L. P.
