Crane of Chicago, a close personal friend of President Wilson, is contemplating contemplat-ing an early trip to Petrograd and while it was understood here today tt will be made on his own initiative, he will be in a position to furnish interesting Information In-formation regarding Russian affairs to : the administration. Mr. Crane has been j mentioned for ambassador to Japan, but j it was said today that his selection for that post is not now to be expected.
