Show BRITISH TAKE POSITIONS AFTER FIERCE BATTLE LONDON, March 24, 10:15 n. to. The British have occupied the village of Roisel. in the Sonuue, according to the official report tonig'it. Roisel i-.i seven : miles east of Peronne. Heavy fighting took place at Beaumet z-Les-Oambrai, ; where the Germans, in a strong attack, I gained a footing. By a counter-attack the British again drove them out. The text reads: Onr troops have occupied Roisel, seven miles east of Peronne. This morning strong hostile detachments de-tachments again attacked our positions posi-tions in Beaumetz-Les-Cambrai and obtained a temporary footing in tne village. They were immediately counter-attacked and driven out, leaving a few prisoners. We have made progress on a front of one and a half miles southwest south-west and west of Eeoust-St, Mcin (southeast of oiselles). Enemy at-' at-' tacks hero and north of Boiry-1 Boiry-1 Becnuerelle were repulsed. We carried out another successful success-ful raid east of Arras. The enemy's en-emy's second line was reached and casualties were inflicted. . We also I entered the enemy's trenches east I of Neuville-St. Vaast.
