AUTO IKE TAX SCHEDIUS FIXED Secretary of State Makes Public Rates on Various Machine Types. Information as to the methods of determining de-termining the automobile license tax that must be paid by auto owners under the amended law, and the rates of tax for various machines, is contained in slips printed and issued by the secretary of state for the general public. Under the new law the rate of tax is based upon the diameter of bore, length of stroke of the piston and the number of cylinders of a car. Ten dollars for each electric motor ve- ' hide used only for pleasure purposes. ( Five dollars for each steam propelled 1 motor vehicle not exceeding fifteen horsepower. horse-power. Ten dollars for each steam propelled motor vehicle exceeding fifteen horsepower. horse-power. Ten dollars for each commercial motor vehicle used for carrying passengers for hire. Ten dollars for each non-passenger carrying car-rying commercial motor vehicle or truck. Five dollars for every other motor vehicle ve-hicle not exceeding twenty-five horsepower. horse-power. Ten dollars for every other motor vehicle ve-hicle exceeding twenty-five, but not exceeding ex-ceeding forty horsepower. Fifteen dollars for every other motor vehicle exceeding forty horsepower, and Twenty-five dollars for each dealer's or manufacturer's license. Additional dealer's deal-er's plates may be secured at a cost of ?2 per set. The horsepower of motor vehicles is determined by the following formula: Diameter of bore multiplied by length of stroke multiplied by number of cylinders, cylin-ders, divided by two and one-half. Applicants must give tlie factory number, num-ber, diameter of bore, and the stroke. All motor vehicles must be registered on or before the 1st day of March, or before be-fore same are operated ; provided, that whenever a motor vehicle is registered on or after the 1st day of September the fee for such registration is one-half the amount of the annual registration fee. All persona checks should be certified or postoffice order, cashier s check, or express ex-press order sent with applications.
