Show GRAND DUKE WILL NOT COMMAND THE RUSSIAN ARMIES ' LOXDON March 24, 7:50 p. m. The Russian minister of war, according to a Reuter dispatch from Petrograd, has informed Grand Duke Nicholas that owing; to his connection with the dynasty the government considers his retention as commander-in-chief of. the Russian armies as undesirable. It was announced several davs ago in a Petrograd dispatch to the London N Times that the government had found it necessary, in order to checkmate mischievous mis-chievous propaganda, to appoint a generalissimo gen-eralissimo not connected with the Romanoff Ro-manoff family. The emperor, on his abdication, transferred the supreme command com-mand of the Russian armies to Grand Duke Nicholas. |
