Show CELEBRATION IS HELD IN FREMONT COUNTY Tribute Is Paid to the Departing Soldier Sol-dier Boys and Honor Flag Is Raised. Special Lo The Tribune. ST. ANTHONY, Idaho, May 4. Fremont county held a big celebration Monday. The day waS set aside as a holiday in honor of the twenty-six boys who left later for American Lake and also for the display of the ' ' honor ' ' flag, which was awarded to Fremont county in the recent Liberty loan drive for going "over the top.'' This flag belongs to the whole county, and as such was displayed to several of the towns Mondaj1. The towns visited were Chester, Ashton, Marvsville, Farnurn, Drum-mond, Drum-mond, Newdale, Teton and Wilfonl. Each gave the visitors a hearty welcome wel-come and wished the boys "Godspeed." "God-speed." At 5:45 p. m. the cars were all back and the citizens of the city turned out for the flag raising. Short addresses were given and the "honor" flag was raised over the Motel Riverside River-side on Main street. Later the flag will be taken to the other parts of the county. At 8:30 p. m. the tabernacle was filled to overflowing to pay the last respects to the boys who are gone. The following programme was given: Chorut, Liberty chorus; invocation, John Miller; chorus, Liberty chorus; address, "Thrift,'' George IT. Lowe; solo, Mrs. Singleton: address, Samuel Trud?; solo, Miss Gardiner; address, K. G. Harris; clarinet solo. Mr. Williams; Wil-liams; address, Mrs. Fred Dnbois; solo, Miss Mae Fullmer; "America," audience. audi-ence. W. W. Spiers, president of the Commercial Com-mercial club, introduced the speakers. After (he programme several hours were spent in dancing. Tuesday morning St. Anthony turned out en masse at the station as a final farewell to the boys. Fremont holds the distinction of being be-ing a county that has given more boys to Fncle Sam than any other county ID the United States, according to population. |
