Show THRIFT WORKERS AT OMFERENCE George, T. Odell and James W. Collins Confer With E. A. Vanderlip. In response to a call from E. A. Vanderlip, Van-derlip, national chairman of war savings sav-ings work, George T. Odell, state director di-rector for Utah, and James W. Collins, Col-lins, state chairman for Utah, left yesterday yes-terday afternoon for Omaha, to at-tenj at-tenj a meeting of the state directors and chairmen of the central and western west-ern states. ' It is expected that at this meeting all the states of the district included will be present, and plans will be mapped out for the work in war savings for the balance of the year. There is to be a rally for northern Davis county tonight at Clearfield meeting house. L. B. Hampton of the Salt Lake City committee will be one of the speakers at this meeting, which will be presided over by Chairman James G. Wood. Monday night there will be a meeting meet-ing at the East Mill Creek ward meeting meet-ing house, which will be presided over by C. F. Stillman as chairman. The Bev. P. A. Simpkin and L. B. Hampton will be speakers at this meeting. A meeting of the presidents of the five Mormon stakes in Salt Lake has been held, and the assurance was given that these stake organizations will aid the war savings committee in its house-to-house canvass to We conducted in Salt Lake. Salt Lake countv- has been organized into districts, with district chairmen and exeeutice committees, and it is proposed to hold a house-to-house canvass can-vass throughout the count- during the present month. In the town of Murray the matter has been made a civic affair, and the city commission there is placing the war savings work upon a scientific basis. It is having a card index made of all families in the town, showing the allotment for each family, and in this way a perfect check will be kept, and it will be seen that Murray goes over the top in the war savings campaign. The chairmen for the various districts dis-tricts in the county thus far organized are as follows: Murray, L. C. Miller; South Cottonwood, Joseph S. Moffett; Taylorsville, Joseph S. Benniou; Granger, Gran-ger, F. L. Bowden; Holliday, George B. Andrus; Miller ward, E. T. Walton; Mill Creek, H. C. Carlisle; Winder ward, Claude Cornwall; Parley's ward, H. Savage; Wilford ward, Joseph Moss; Burton ward, Mathew Miller; Farmers' ward, Bishop J J3. Tingey; Sandy. J. P. Jensen; Brinton ward, E. C. Bag-ley; Bag-ley; Union, W. C. Burgon. Jordan stake will be organized this week. |
