Show GOLFERS TURN 001 FOR OPENING DAY Qualifying Round Played for May Trophy; First Match for Today. Th largest crowd of golfers that lias turned out so for thfa year was la evidence yesterday aftcrnooa at the Salt Lake Country club on opening open-ing day. More than fifty members journeyed to the links and thirty-three participated In th qualifying round for the May handicap trophy, donated by R. C. GemmeH. H. D. Randall was low man In the qualifying round, having a net score of 67. R. G. Halloran was light behind him with 63, and Thornton Gilmer Gil-mer wound up in third place with 71. The other golfers finished as follows: R. C. Gemmell. W. A. Larkins, J. C. McChrystaJ, C. A, Gillette, Frank Botterill, Dr. W. L. Ellerbeck, G. H. Waring. Dr. George Ellerbeck, G. B. Rosenblatt, Captain Walter G. Gtiillion. Jack Gilmer. C. H. Doollttlo and W. Sowles. The latter player was tied with Fred Hale with a gross score of 82, and a play-off was necessary to decide which golfer should be of the first sixteen to qualify. The pairings for today aro: H. D.
