Show PACT WITH NORWAY. The United States and Norway have entered into a commercial arrangement which insures a free exchange of the products of the two countries and will also help our allies in the war in greatei or less degree. We are glad the agreement agree-ment has been reached. This country could get along without Norwegian products if compelled to. We rejoice on account of the Norwegians themselves, them-selves, because they have suffered great wrongs and material injuries during the war, without being able to mend matters. mat-ters. Norway's principal needs at the present time are foodstuffs and bunker coal, and both will be supplied. Word comes from Christiania to the effect that there is great jubilation at the capital over the success of Dr. Nansen's mission, mis-sion, and the famous explorer is given much praise for his work. Possibly he is entitled to some credit, but it should be remembered that the United States has never shown the least disposition to be harsh or uncharitable toward the neutrals, least of all Norway. |
