Show MANY BOYS ADDED TO WORKING RESERVE First Detachment Will Be Sent to Utah County to Work in the Beet Fields. The Utah boys' working reserve was increased by nearly fifty boys yesterday yester-day morning who were enrolled as members mem-bers after taking their examination before be-fore three physicians. The examination and registration were in the hands of J. W. Watson, federal fed-eral state director for Utah for the boys' working reserve, and J. Challen Smith, director of the Salt Lake district. dis-trict. A pledge of allegiance to the country coun-try was made, and an oath of loyalty and faithfulness to perform whatever manner of work the country saw fit for him to do was taken by every boy who passed the physical examination. The physical examination showed that each boy who passed was fit to do manual labor and was free from all physical ailment. It is expected that at least 300 boys will be enrolled in the working reserve to devote their time to working on the farms in Utah this summer. The first detachment of boys will be sent in about two weeks to Saratoga, Utah county, to help in the beet fields. |
