Show I j Muffler Paint. It is difficult to find a satisfactory paint for the exhaust pip'' and muffler, because of the heat of these parts. Hore is a higily recommended muffler paint: Boiled linseed oil l"S pound, Japan varnish 1T pound, turpentine 2-5 pound, lamp black l'i ounces, poivdcred graphite graph-ite IV. ounces, powdered oxido of man- fanese ounce. Mix the linseed oil and apan varnish well together, then add in, order, stirring all the time, the lamp black, the graphite and the powdered manganese. As the mixture thickens thin it down yvith turpentine, until the quantity quan-tity mentioned has been used. This mixture should be used as soon as it is mixed, as it dries quickly. Every timo the brush is dipped in it it should bo stirred. It is well to paint the muffler wblie it is hot, alter having cleaned it thoroughly. |
