Subscriptions to tho third Liberty loan by officers and employees of public utilities utili-ties within Utah amounted to 5827,400, according ac-cording to the official report issued yesterday yes-terday by H. V. Piatt, chairman of the public utilities committee of the loan. There were 11.S60 subscribers to the loan among the oficers and employees of the public utilities In the state and in many cases the subscriptions represented 100 per cent of the personnels. In issuing the report Mr. Piatt expressed ex-pressed himself as highly gratified with the results. He expressed his appreciation apprecia-tion of the spirit of co-operation shown by the committee members and all those assisting In the work of gathering the subscriptions. The organization perfected and carried out by them was excellent. "The number of subscriptions" Pr. Piatt said, "indicates the prevalence of the proper spirit of patriotism among (thrfs who carry on the work of the vari-Ous vari-Ous utilities in this section. The subscriptions in i the cases of many of the Industries represent repre-sent 100 per cent and the average is at least 90 per cent. The subscription of officers and employees of the utilities in Utah is a credit to the state." Mr. Piatt explained that In the case of insterstate transportation and other interstate inter-state industries the amount of subscriptions subscrip-tions would be divided on a fair basis among the states traversed. Officers and employees of the Oregon Short Line system subscribed a total of $602,200 to the third Liberty iean and the numbei- of subscribers was S0S3.
