A number of friends and neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lundblade gave them a surprise at their new home Sunday afternoon. after-noon. There were nearly 100 present, and all took baskets filled with good things for the dinner that was served. Henry Scheldegger and Miss Sadie Wolf were married at the home of the bride's sister. The Goodfellowship club, composed of young ladies of the Presbyterian church, was entertained by Miss Lucile Miller at her home Friday evening. Refreshments were served. The ladies of the Swedish Mission Aid society were entertained by Mrs. S. A. Hanson at her home Thursday afternoon. The time was spent in sewing. Twenty-five Twenty-five ladies were present and luncheon was served by the hostess. . The Ladies' Aid society of the Christian Chris-tian church was entertained by Mrs. C. meeting day of the club liaa been temporarily changed from Friday to Thursday. A meeting of the executive board of the Red Crose will bo held on Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock at the Magna school building. It is expected ex-pected that every member will be present. The regular meeting of the Magna Women's (dub will be held at Cooper's hall next Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon. An election of officers will take place and a large attendance in hoped for. The demonstration given by Miss Anna Edmunds at the Woodman hall Monday was attended by a large number of ladies. The use 1 of the cheaper cuts of meat was the subject taken up. The Clean-up town campaign exLendOd over the week just ended and was a complete success. The cleaning squad, consisting of forty boys and girls, under the supervision of Mrs. D. F. Boies and two health officers, paid particular attention to the alleys in the business nection. An allotment of $10 for prizes from the county health office was augmented by an allowance from the Merchants' Mer-chants' association and donations from the Oreek merchants, who were most liberal with money and 'praise for the work done. Money thus- raised was divided among those who worked: Mr. Barlow Bar-low most generously gave the children a free picture pic-ture show Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, for which Mrs. Boles and the entire squad extend thanks. Thanks also were given to H. C. Smith Tor the Utah Copper company team loaned all day Saturday. The Magna branrh of the American Red Cross shipped a box this .week, the contents of which consisted of 140 bed shirts, nine pairs of pa-Jamas, pa-Jamas, twelve pairs of bed socks, eighteen pairs of knitted socks and one pair of wristlets. This society has adopted a rule that no refreshments shall be served at its meetings. Miss Lulu Anderson left Friday for an extended visit to San Francisco. The Just-a-Mere club was entertained by Mrs. Rex Buck. Thursday afternoon. After a short business session, the afternoon after-noon was spent in sewing. Luncheon was served. Dr. and Mrs. J. O. Mellor entertained at a dinner party at their home in Lincoln, Lin-coln, Friday afternoon. The color design was pink and white, and a course dinner was served. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Paine, Mr. and Mrs. Richards and Mr. and Mrs. Robertson. Mrs. W. T. Pettinger entertained twelve ladies of the Knitting club at her home Friday afternoon. Knitting for the Red Cross occupied the time. Luncheon was served at 5 o'clock. Mrs. W. N. Evans entertained Tuesday for a number of friends of Miss Rosalie Gelger as a surprise to her. Miss Oelger, who Is a teacher, having lived with her during the school term. Twelve guests were present. Luncheon was served by Afrs. B. hall in East Ely, Monday night, in honor of Miss Helen Hoag and Messrs. Creighton Whit-more Whit-more and Harry Wilcox, two young men who will leave in a few days to enter the service. Miss Edith Bircher and Jay E. Brinton were married in Salt Lake Saturday of last week. Mr. Brinton, who has joined the armv, was on a furlough. Eleven members were present, the time being spent with needlework. Luncheon on the "Hoover" plan was served. Mrs. J. H. Wierman and Mrs. iiarl Miller entertained the Eastern Star at a Kensington at the home of Mrs. Wierman, Wier-man, Monday afternoon. After a short business session, the time was spent socially. so-cially. Luncheon was served. A number of members of. the. .Royal Neighbors gave Mrs. P. R. Parker a surprise sur-prise Monday evening, as a farewell preceding pre-ceding her departure for Ogden. Utah, to make her home. A Royal Neighbor pin was presented to her as a token of esteem. es-teem. About twenty ladies were present and served light refreshments, which they took with them. Mrs. M. B. Bundlie and daughter,, Megnild, left Tuesday for Lava Hot Springs, where they will remain for some time. Mrs. J. W. Beachy entertained the members of the Trans Aqua club at her home Tuesday afternoon, fixteen ladies were present, the time being spent in knitting. Mrs. J. J. Lynch of Pender, Neb., and Mrs. wilkins of Colorado were guests of the club. Refreshments were served. Ben Anderson and Miss Stella Mitchell, both of Shelley, Idaho, were married by-Justice by-Justice William E. Wheeler, Tuesday afternoon. Miss Janet Bertram, who has taught in the city schools for the past year, left for Chicago, Wednesday, to spend the summer. Miss Gladys Wood, who taught in the city schools the past year, left Wednesday Wednes-day for Long Beach, Cal., to spend the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson R. Brown left Wednesday morning for Centralia. Kan., and will go from there to South Dakota to visit Mrs. Brown's parents. C. W. Ramsey, one of the oldtime residents resi-dents of this city, now of Deer Lodge, Mont., where he has resided for the past twenty years, visited friends here this week while on his way to New York City to make his home. Mrs. L. Anderson and daughter. Mrs. R. B. Johnson, and Miss Helane left Wednesday for southern California, where they will remain most of the summer. Mrs. DeWitt C. Peck of Fairfield, Idaho, who has been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Peck for several weeks, left Wednesday for Deer Lodge, Mont., to visit with her parents. Mrs. John I. Hubbel entertained a number num-ber of ladies at a May-day breakfast Tuesday. Red and white comprised the color scheme, a large May basket of reel roses occupying the center of the table. Miss Katherine Colwell . arrived from Idaho Falls Saturday morning of last week and was the guest of Mrs. S. F. Gilman and Miss Margaret Costley until Monday, when she left for her home in Illinois. Mrs. S. F. Oilman entertained at bridge1 Saturday evening of last week. Three tables were played. Miss Zola Hostetter won the trophy and Miss Colwell, in whose honor the affair was given, was presented with a souvenir. Mrs. Rowels of Idaho Fall visited with her sister, Mrs. F. E. Boucher, for a few days the early part of the week. Miss Katherine Colwell was the honored hon-ored guest at a picnic Sunday.
