Perhaps the most Important event of the week in social circles was the dance given by the Italian unit of tho Red Cross for the benefit of its Red Cross fund, at the Canyon hall Tuesday evening. The decorations were of intermingled American ajid Italian flags, and the hall was filled to overflowing overflow-ing with Bingham's representative citizens. citi-zens. Red Cross events were the order of the week Tuesday afternoon the proceeds of the photoplay, "Tom Sawyer," were, by the kindness of the management of the Princess theater, given to the Junior Red Cross, and the children worked faithfully faith-fully to make it a success. That they succeeded was attested by the fact that practically everyone of social prominence In Bingham was present at the afternoon performance, and the local treasury was enriched bv the sum of $75. Thursday afternoon's matinee was donated by the Princess theater to the Bingham Red Cross unit. The officers of this organization organiza-tion Mesdames C. D. Abel. Q. B. Kelly. Miss Maurine Bourgard. and the supervisors super-visors of the various sewing classes officiated offi-ciated as doorkeepers, ushers, etc., and the results fere gratifying. Archibald Clark, a former popular member mem-ber of Bingham's social set, who is on a furlough from Camp T,ewis. is a Bingham visitor, the guest of his many friends. Mr Clark, with his mother, was in Belgium Bel-gium at the time of Belgium's invasion, and Is familiar with German war methods meth-ods He has been the recipient of a number of social courtesies during the week. The numerous friends of Judge E. Mrs. Moore returned home Wednesday. The knitting unit of the Junior Red Cross held its usual meeting Monday eve-nine eve-nine at the home of Mrs. Inez Todd King. Miss Doris Slapleton, Miss Annie Masters, Mas-ters, the Misses Laveme and Gladys Jones and Miss Dorothy Kappcllo formed a kodak party Sunday afternoon and enjoyed en-joyed a ramble over the hills below Bingham. Bassott left Monday afternoon for Wyoming for a two weeks' visit with relatives. Tie people of Midvale entertained all the old folks of the town Wednesday in the L. D. S. church. A banquet was served in the amusement hall of the church, followed by an excellent programme, pro-gramme, after which the aged people were taken in automobiles t the Elysium theater and entertained there by the "movies." A Red Cross entertainment, under the direction of George R. Pyper, was given Thursday evening in the L!yfium theater. The school children ' assisted in selling tickets, and the entire proceeds were donated do-nated to the Midvale Red Cross auxiliary. Mrs. Annie Cutler of Salt Lake was a visitor in Midvale on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Smith motored hi to Fillmore, Friday, to visit their daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Arnold Beckstrand, and family. The Red Cross workers In the surgical dressing department opened their new gauze room Monday afternoon. The Midvale Mid-vale city officials fitted up and furnished a large, convenient room in the L. 1). P. church for the organization.
