Show GOVERNOR INSPECTS PACKIilKTRY Official Visit Is Made to Plant at Ogden; Guest of Club. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, May 4. The livestock and packing industry of Ogdeu was given an official inspection, today by Governor Gover-nor Bamberger, state officials and prominent livestock men of the state. The inspection began at the plant of the Hansen Livestock & Feeding company, com-pany, where the visitors saw the preparation prep-aration of the finished products for shipment to the armies of the United States, France and England. The enterprise en-terprise of the Ogden men was later toasted in- a banquet at the club. Upon the arrival in the city of the governor and his partv at H o'clock, they were met at the Weber club where, after a brief reception the party left in automobiles for the Wilson lane district, dis-trict, the home of the Hansen Livestock Live-stock & Feeding company. After all parts of the feed plant were visited the party went to the yards of the Ogden Horse Sale & Commission company, where President H. W. Dunn and General Manager Otto Meek explained ex-plained work that has been carried on in providing horses for the American, British, French and Italian armies. It was stated that more than 50,000 mounts had been sent from Ogden. The Union Stockyards and the Ogdeu Packing Pack-ing & Provision company's properties also were inspected. At the latter plant General Manager Simon S. Jensen piloted the party through the big institutions. The packing pack-ing industry in all its phases were shown by the capable manager, who took pride in showing the big shipments of salt bacon and other meat products which are destined for the allied armies. Then the members of the party returned re-turned to Weber club where they were the guests of the Hansen Livestock & Feeding company at a banquet at which some of the prize feed beef of the Hansen Han-sen company was served. President Charles H. Barton presided presid-ed at the dinner andafter welcoming the visitors he called upon Governor Bamberger. |
