Show AGREEMENT REACHED ON HOUSING BILL WASHINGTON, May 4. Agreement on the bill appropriating $60,000,000 hJU-ulS war workers was reached 'wWa.v, wiien the house conferees ac-ccpN'd ac-ccpN'd the senate's plan of vesting power in the president instead of the secretary of labor. The conferees retained the limitation against relinquishing occupied residences resi-dences except by contract and under a certificate of "necessity" from a federal judfre. Another amendment accepted provides that housing acquired shall be sold as soon as possible after the war. The conferees also retained the prohibition pro-hibition against "cost plus," contracts and requiring bids from three contractors. |
