Show RECORD KEPT OF x Ml MEN Chart Shows Efficiency of Individuals and Units as Well. CAMP LEWIS, Tacoma, Wash., May 4, The record of each man at Camp Lewis heroaftor will show his efficiency effi-ciency as a soldier. Orders issued today to-day require that a graphic chart shall be kept of each man, and these shall be posted in the barracks so that every man may know just how he compares with the others, how his company, battalion bat-talion and regiment compare with other organizations in every branch of the military work and training. The charts will show the physical condition, morale and efficiency in sniping, grenades, bombs, automatic rifle, Lewis grin and open and trench warfare. The various trades in the army also will be classified. classi-fied. This is done in the interest of efficiency so that every man may be stimulated into equaling the standard sought for army work. One man from the April contingent of the draft, whose name it is not per-mitd per-mitd to use, came to Camp Lewis ' Jfu his heart and every vital organ l-sof his body out of place. He was in apparent good health, but was rejected I because of valvular trouble of the heart. Attention was first drawn to the case when the man appeared for medical medi-cal examination in the mustering office. The examing physician was unable to detect any heart beat with the stethoscope, stetho-scope, and asked the man to go through a vigorous pli3'sical exercise. His heart was noticed beating on the right side and an X-ray examination showed every organ on the wrong side of his body. He appeared in good health, and had served an enlistment in the navy without discovering his heart was where it should not be. |
