Show NATION RESOURCEFUL ' SALTJLAKEfi SAYS Effects of War on Fashions Described by Mrs. McCann. "Resourceful America is really a great comfort," says Mrs. McCann, buyer of women's apparel department of Walker Brothers Dry Goods company, com-pany, "especially to a woman." Mrs. McCann has only just returned from New York, where she has been for the last several weeks on one of her many buying trips. Quaint, old-fashioned silk ginghams are. quite the vogue in the fashion center, cen-ter, and will be more so as summer advances. ad-vances. Ginghams and other inexpensive inexpen-sive materials, indestructible voiles, and so rumor whispers, even calico may be the raee. Capes are on their waj- to popularity, a new style being introduced m waist length capes of velvet for light summer sum-mer wraps, and coatees are gaining favor every day. New satin coats, particularly par-ticularly in navy and black, are rich looking garments but inexpensive. "Sensible styles are really the only-ones only-ones being shown," says Mrs. McCann, Mc-Cann, "as women are filling the places of men everywhere. One of the very newest developments is a garden suit of 'really truly' bloomer pantaletts and coat, which will make any woman want to start her war garden. "And for outing there is a typical soldier uniform of khaki breeches, removable re-movable skirt, coat and hat to match. Made for solid comfort and lots of good hard wear ideal for climbing, long jaunts and autoing. "They can talk about difficulties all they want," says Mrs. McCann, "but we'll have plenty of pretty and practical practi-cal things for the women, because I found them, and I got them at very reasonable prices." |
