One of the most delightful social affairs ever held in this city was the first annual an-nual ball given by the Woman's club in the Odeon hall Monday evening. February Febru-ary 12. Card tables were supplied for those who did not dance and punch was served throughout the evening. About 100 couples were present. Miss Dorothy Wones entertained Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon at a valentine party in honor of her eleventh birthday. Luncheon was served to eleven guests. Mrs. Ben Richards entertained at a series of parties the past week, giving a valentine party on the afternoon of the 14th at which fourteen guests were present. pres-ent. In the evening the hostess had a bridge partx and the following evening a "500"' party. Old-fashioned bouquets of violets were given as favors and refreshments re-freshments were served. One of the delightful social events of the past week was the bridge luncheon given at the Hotel Perrine by Mrs. T. J. Woods on Fridav. The table, spread for twenty-five twenty-five guests, was pre t til v decorated in pink and white. After the luncheon the guests adjourned to the Woods home, where the remainder of the time was spent in playing bridge. Mrs. Stedman of Nebraska, who is visiting at tne home in Twin Falls of Mrs. C. A. Robinson, was a guest at the affair. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Clos entertained enter-tained twenty-eight guests at a delightful delight-ful bridge party on Thursday evening. The rooms and the tables at which the daintv two-course luncheon was later served were beautifully decorated In red and white, carrying out the valentine idea. Mrs. J. B. Ferguson was hostess at a 1 delightful bridee luncheon on Wednesday ' afternoon at the Hotel Rogerson. The table decorations were of red and white, symbolical of St. Valentine's day. After the luncheon the guests enjoyed bridge in the Ferguson apartments, which were artistically decorated in cut flowers and festoons of hearts. A pleasant dinner party was that given by Wilton Peck to eight" guests on Wednesday Wed-nesday evening at the Hotel Rogerson. A large wicker basket filled with pink and white roses, adorned with a large pink "bow of tulle, formed the attractive centerpiece. Those present were Miss Stella Perrine, Miss Veva Amos. Mr. and Mrs. Paul R. Taber, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Alexander and Ted Rantzan. Twenty-one members of the Ingleside club held a delightful party Wednesday afternoon at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Peterson east of town. The home was elaborately decorated in yellow and white and a bountiful dinner was served at two long tables. Miss Nellie Teasdale entertained twenty-eight guests at a delightful card party Tuesday evening. On Monday Sheriff and Mrs. Frank M. Kendall entertained at dinner Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Tanner of Filer, A. R. Hicks of Twin Falls and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hornibrook, formerly of this city, but recently re-cently from Siam, where Mr. Hornibrook was minister from this government. Later in the evening Mr. Kendall was happily surprised by a number of his relatives and friends, who remembered the day as his forty-fifth birthday anniversary. anni-versary. They brought with them an abundance of good things to eat and gifts in remembrance of the day. Mrs. Ernest White was hostess at a 1 o'clock luncheon Tuesday afternoon to twenty-three guests. The tables were attractively decorated in pink and white. The remainder of the evening was spent in playing bridge. Mrs. Joseph Waikinton entertained at a novel "rag bee" at her country home, "Bonnie Crest," Wednesday afternoon. At the close of the afternoon, which was spent in sewing, the hostess, assisted by Miss Isabel Des Ruisseau, served a dainty course luncheon to twenty guests. Forty members of the Business Women's Wom-en's association were in attendance a t the regular Tuesday evening luncheon held this week at the home of Mrs. H. J. Youngs. A delicious luncheon was served at some half dozen tables. The study hour was given over to the subject sub-ject of Ida M. Tarbell and a most interesting in-teresting paper was read by the leader. Miss Grace Hornaday. The paper was written by Miss Pearl Tyer of Boise, who last week gave an extemporaneous address on the subject before a large club gathering in Boise and who gracious- ly loaned the paper to the Business Women's Wom-en's association on request. The regular regu-lar luncheon on Tuesday evening of next week will be held at the home of Mrs. Youngs. A feature of the evening will be a talk by Miss Margaret Roberts of : Boise, former librarian of the state trav- ' eling library, who will speak of Ida M. : Tarbell and her books. 4 GUNNISON 4 : f GUXXISOX. Mrs. Charles Averill and Mrs. R C- Green entertained Saturday Satur-day afternoon at auction bridge. This was the fifth of the series of bridge parties par-ties to be given by the civic department of the Price Sorosis. The room was effectively ef-fectively decorated in strings of hearts and the valentine symbols were used as tally cards. Mrs. Thomas Fouts had ten ladies as special guests. Mrs. C. W. Ting ley was awarded high honors by Mrs. Fonts and was also given the club favor. Refreshments were served. Mrs. H. A. Grotte was hostess this week to the Merry AfteYnoon Eridge club at her apartments in the Panama hotel. Valentine suggestions were carried car-ried out in the score cards and in the refreshments. Mrs. R. C. Green and Mrs. E. F. Chamberlain were guests of the club. Members of the Merry Afternoon Bridge club will entertain their husbands next Tuesdav evening at a dinner party. The affair will be given at the Charles Aver-ill Aver-ill home. Miss Ruth Loofbourow had for her guests Tuesday evening the members of the Tuesday Evening Bridge club. Heart-shaped Heart-shaped score cards were used and the same suggestion was carried out in the hand-painted place cards used. A huge bunch of deep-red carnations, contrasting contrast-ing effectively with the white and stiver of the table, was used as the table piece. The honors of the game were awarded i to Miss Theodore Rassmussen. Miss Ida ! Tanner will entertain the young ladies next week at the home of Mrs. G- E. Nelms. Mrs. J. B. Middleton was hostess Thursday afternoon to the members of the Ladies" Aid society of the Methodist church. A large crowd enjoyed the valentine dance given at the city hall Wednesday evening by the Price Sorosis. Lowry's orchestra of six pieces furnished the music and punch was served by the committee com-mittee In charge. The committee was composed of Mesdames Mat Gilmour, Charles Averill, R. C. Green, R. H. Walters Wal-ters and Barbara Forrester. Five hundred invitations are being issued is-sued to the junior prom which will be held this year on February 22. Plans are being made for -a function that will rank well with any of its predecessors and every detail is being worked out with care. Competent committees have the affair af-fair in hand and nothing is overlooked. Scores of friends of the class and of the school will be present from outside points. Misses Violet and Josephine Fiack went to Salt Lake City the first of the week to visit their sister, Mrs. Wilfred W. Olsen. Miss Josephine will remain several months. Mrs. Joe Blumberg and children ' of Helper visited Monday at the Ben Stein home in this city. Mrs. Ira Browning returned to her home in Castle Dale Monday, after a few weeks' visit in Salt Lake.
