( X Looking -Backward If You Would Judge the Present I First Consider the Past. i A There has been a great deal of V''J' dental history made since I -jT ' opened my office in Salt Lake, XaV and many reforms have been in- augurated. IAVhile I do not claim the credit for FORCING all of these reforms, I think I have helped SOME by calling pubile attention to the shortcomings of some of the old-timers. It is encouraging to note that today the "company cloak" is being dropped by most dentists and practically every "company" "com-pany" now publishes the name of the manager. It is gratify- ing that the "steerers," black and white, no longer block stair- I ways soliciting business, and the erstwhile "bouncer," who I handled the troublesome "kickers'' is no more. Prices gen- erally are coming down where they belong, the sliding scale has given way to published price lists, and practically all dentists use good material some even brag about it. All offices now have at least one graduate dentist, and before another year it is possible all will have graduate managers. I am immensely pleased to see dentistry as a profession lifting itself out of the mire, where some of the unworthy dragged it; I am glad to see the graduate dentist more and more in demand every day. j While I sincerely hope the reforms are sincere, the record I j of the past would suggest caution. It is often wiser to preceed a pardon with parole. I MY PRICES FOR GUARANTEED WORK: 1 I Painless Extraction 25c 22-K. The body is a highly organized machine ma-chine of complicated parts, in which the liver and the kidneys work for the common com-mon good. Damage to either one of these organs iuterteres with man as a motor mechanism. The automobile expert ex-pert knows how important it is that the carburetor does not get too much fuel, along with sufficient air to burn or explode tho gas. Too much fuel in man's machine, such as eating too much meat, or alcohol or tea, and the liver cannot "turn over," nervous overwork and lack of exercise in outdoor air bring constipation and bad health. Eat less meat, plenty of vegetables, aud with air and good exercise vou need little lit-tle else. If the liver needs rousing and most of us need this once a week take a safe vegetable extract of the leaves of aloe. May-apple, root of jalap made into a tiny sugar-coated pill, and sold bv almost ' everv druggist as Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets first put up nearly fifty years ago. Most people die eventually of an over-acid condition. If the blood can be rendered more alkaline, the longer we live. With regular hours, plenty of water between meals, sensible coarse food and a chance to get tho poisons out of the svstem, a man will live to be a hundred. But, unfortunately, our highly nervous way of living brings increased in-creased storage of uric acid in the body. This acts as a pol?on. and we suffer from lumbago, aches or pains, rheumatism, rheuma-tism, gout. Get rid of this uric acid poison by taking a harmless medicine called An-rric. An-rric. wh;ch throws out the uric acid by stimulating the kidneys. Drink a pint of hot watc before meals and take Anuric (double strength), three or four times a day. Amine can be obtained :;t aimoit any drug store. (Advertisement.) Benjamin Franklin says, 66 A Penny saved is two pence clear."
