Show RAILROADS COMBAT SNOW SUCCESSFULLY Temporary Delay at Bluffdale Occasioned Occa-sioned by Drifting Into Cuts; Other Lines Kept Open. By prompt action yesterday the in-terurban in-terurban and street railway officials forestalled any possibility of a serious tieun as a result of the snowstorm. Tne most serious trouble occurred on the line of the Salt Lake & Utah railroad. rail-road. At Bluffdale, just south of Eiv-erton, Eiv-erton, tho wind maintained its reputation, reputa-tion, which gave the town its name, and drove the snow into a cut. Traffic was effectually blocked from noon until 6 o'clock in the evening, thereby discommoding dis-commoding many passengers on their way to Salt ITake. Those marooned, however, took the situation good naturedly and were comfortably com-fortably cared for during their storm imprisonment. When the Orem line officials learned of the congestion they sent out snow-plows snow-plows and large forces of men to break through the barricade. No trouble was encountered elsewhere else-where along the line. The interurbau lines north were in no manner handicapped handi-capped and all trains were on time. The Utah Light & Traction company, anticipating possible trouble, started its snowplows at noon yesterday on all lines and kept them in operation until S o'clock. The plows were put at work again at midnight. The officials said that as there was no indication of a freeze and no wind they anticipated no difficulty. |
