Show POCATELLO FAVORS MANAGERIAL FORM Representatives at Commercial Club Meeting Urge Change in City Government. Special to The Tribune. ' POCATELLO, Idaho, Feb. 17. At a meeting held at the Cojnmercial club rooms Thursday evening to consider the question of changing the present form of muuoicipal government of Pocatello, those assembled went on record as favoring fa-voring the managerial form. H, H. Whittlesey presided as chairman chair-man of the meeting and among those tnkinc part in the discussion were W. H. Wittv, County Engineer W. P. Havenor, Citv "Engineer J. II. Giles, President Miles F.'Reed of the tech, J. A. Youn-i.ren Youn-i.ren IT E. Holmes, M. C. Merrill, V. A. Blalock, J. A. Hibbard and J. A. Tupper. Those favoring the managerial plan j of government pointed to Denver and Phoenix, Ariz., as cities where this form of government has proved both efficient and economical. A copv of the bill recently introduced bv Senator B. A. Cummings, which would permit cities of 2000 population or more to adopt the city managership pldn for a period of six years aud then go back to the old form of government if it so decided, will come up for thorough discussion at a meeting to be held imder the auspices of the civic j committee of the Commercial club next i Tuesdav evening. If this bill becomes a law five or more commissioners may be elected by i anv citv desiring to operate under the j act and 25 per cent of the qualified; electors of .the cities seeking to come ; under its terms may ask for an election : to so decide. The commissioners elected select the city manager, whose duties ( are to run the city. |
