Show MICHIGAN TO ENTER ILLINOIS RACE MEET CHICAGO, Feb. 17. The door of the Western conference was partly opened today for the return of the University of Michigan to the Big Nine fold. The action was taken by the faculty committee of the conference, which met in special session with the graduate committee com-mittee to consider whether the entry of Michigan in the University of Illinois relay re-lay carnival March 3 was a violation of the conference rule prohibiting competition competi-tion with Michigan. The committee ruled that "under the circumstances, the Invitation extended the University of Michigan by Illinois was allowed to stand." Professor T. A. Moran of Purdue university, uni-versity, president of the conference committee, com-mittee, was quoted as saying that Michigan Michi-gan had made unofficial advances toward a return to the conference. Michigan withdrew from the conference confer-ence following the football game with the University of Chicago In 1905 in which Chicago was the victor. |
