THE Welsh people of Salt Lake City and vicinity will celebrate with eclat the anniversary of the birth of their patron saint, St. David, oil the evening of March 1, in a grand banqnet, which is to be held in the Georgian room at the Newhouse hotel. The affair will be given under the auspices of the two local Welsh societies, so-cieties, viz., the Cambrian association and the Sons and Daughters of Wales society. It is estimated that upwards of 300 persons will be in attendance, ; representing former citizens of Wales I now residents of Utah, those of Welsh "birth or of Welsh descent and their J 11 II 71 U fv1 W I r' ' t I I friends. An excellent menu has been provided, as well as an appropriate programme for the occasion, consisting of vocal and instrumental music, by well-known local artists and brief addresses. ad-dresses. Among those who will render vocal numbers are Evan Stephens, John James, John W. Summerhaj-s, Horace S. Ensign, Esther Davis Stephens Steph-ens and the Giles sisters. Professor H. E. Giles and Miss Claudia Edwards will furnish appropriate instrumental music, while little Miss Eddington will give some fancy dancing. Among the speakers are former State Senator W. N. Williams, Arthur L. Thomas, .Captain .Cap-tain D. L. Davis, Representative Joseph G. Bywater and the Rev. J. H. N. Williams, Wil-liams, pastor of the First M. E. church, this city. The latter 's subject is "The Two Davids," St. David and David Lloyd George, England's present prime minister. Among the ladies who comprise the general committee are Mrs. D. L. Da- I vis, Mrs. W. N. Williams, Mrs. C. W. 1 Stewart, Mrs. W. D. Foster, Mrs. Rosie I Davis, Mrs. Jane Elliott, Mrs. William Davis and Mrs. W. B. Hughes.
