Show NOTES. J. Alexander's reprint of volume 2 of Kear's Encyclopedia of Draughts is now at hand. The presswork and paper maintain main-tain the hisrh standard of other volumes, and it is superfluous to say that all players play-ers will find this part very useful, as the fine English analyst has done himself proud. Here, as elsewhere, a n effort is made to sift out redundant play arising from transposition, an example which should be followed by other authors. John Pousrherty writes 'that he will most likely merely print the Banks-Jordan match in his column in the Los An-?ples An-?ples Times, which affords an opportunity opportu-nity to some ambitious player to become an author by buying the right to reprint. J. B. Jenkins won the IfaT Nebraska state tourney from a rield of fifteen entries. Charles Hefter has been " 'way down south in Alaham'," visiting his children and grandchildren and killing a little time with the village champion, who evidently had some fine strategy wasted on him, . .iudcring; from Lb writer's humorous plaint.
