Show BANDS OF MERCY TO BE ORGANIZED HERE The organization of bands of mercy among the children of Utah is to be pushed with vigor, according to Mrs. Tom D. Pitt, who is state superintendent of the mercy department of the ". C. T. U. The work is in connection with the humane hu-mane activities of the state and is prosecuted prose-cuted mainly among Ihe young people in the schools and churches. Buttons, books and badges will be furnished fur-nished to the members and "Mercy" days will be held at regular intervals In the churches'. Prominent in the work in the east nre surh, well-known women as Minnie Mod-dern Mod-dern Fiske of Xew York. Mrs. Mary Lovell of Jenkintown, Pa,, and Miss Mary C. Yarrow of Philadelphia, Pa. During the present cession of the legislature legis-lature an effort will be made to obtain an appropriation to meet the salary of an oftlcer who will devote his entire time to the work. At the present time J. M. Forsythe is doing the work free of charge. |
