Show ENGLISH ARE HARD UP FOR CAR PARTS British users of American-made automobiles auto-mobiles are in difficulties over the replacement re-placement of parts when damaged or sufficiently worn to require renewal, according ac-cording to the London Telegraph. The reason is that no importation of foreign motor car parts is permitted except for government vehicles. It has been estimated esti-mated by the agents of American manufacturers manu-facturers trading in Great Britain that the amount of extra parts necessary to be imported for private owners would be about 500 tons per annum. This seems a very small quantity, and possibly the board of trade might allow its importation, importa-tion, provided that department was assured as-sured that it was really needed by British owners of American cars. The difficulty in the matter is to be able to prove to the war trade department depart-ment that such parts might not be used to construct new vehicles instead of repairing re-pairing existing- ones. |
