Show Coffee Futures. NEW YORK, Feb. 17. The market for coffee futures showed a further improvement improve-ment today. Indications of larsrer clearances clear-ances from Santos to Europe, small primary receipts and the recent absence of selling pressure from Brazilian shippers, ship-pers, in spite of comparatively full stocks, appeared to be bringing in little fresh buying from outside sources. There was also a little demand from trade, and. after opening unchanged to three roints higher, active months sold about six to twelve points above las; night's closing figures. Further liquidation of March in the way of switching to later months appeared ap-peared to be readily absorbed, and that delivery rallied from S.2"'c to 8. 25c, while May sold up from S.35c to S.45c and December De-cember from S.55c to S.57c. f The close was five to seven points net higher. Sales. 51.000 bags. February. S 21c; March, S.24c; April, 8.32c; May.! S39c; June, S-45e; July, S.50c; August,1 g.54c: September, 8.5Tc: October. $.62c; November, 8.67c; December, S.71c; Janu- ; arv, 8.76c. Spot coffee was reported In moderate demand at 10c for R;o 7s and 104c for Santos 4s. Offers of Santos 4s were reported re-ported in the cost and freight market at 10c to 10.10c, London credits, and of Rio 7s at 9.35c to 9.50c. London credits. Freights were said to be easier, witn several steamers now in Santos offering room, while insurance rates were aiso reported re-ported easier. The official cables reported no chanee in Brazilian markets except for an advance of 25 reis in Santos futures. , |
