Show PRESIDENT WILSON VISITS THE CAPITOL WASHINGTON. Feb. 17. President Wilson went to tne capitol late today in an effort to get prompt action on important bills in his legislative programme pro-gramme and avoid an extra session; The measures discussed by him at a series of conferences with senators included in-cluded the naval appropriation bill, the Webb bill allowing American exporters to establish common selling agencies abroad, -water power bills, the espionage bill, raih-oad legislation and the revenue bill. The president saw Senators Simmons, Pom ere ne, Bankhead, Hitchcock, Hitch-cock, Overman, Thompson, Newlands, Chamberlain. Tillman and fciwanson, and all of them assured him that every effort was being made to complete his programme. Doubt was expressed by several, however, as to whether all the items desired could be acted on in the remaining two weeks of the session. |
