Show LAST week proved itself the banner week of the howling season, ;is records and hish marks were broken and reset aplenty. The Cubs were the sensation of the mixup, as they walked off with honors swore. Right off the reel they broke two City league records in one single game and came within two pins of smashing a tjiird. The new marks they put were U1S for the team single score, 2S96 for the team high three, and Stone or their team shot 256, which just lacked one peg of tying a. V. Smith's mark of 257. On his last ball Stone needed nine pins to win. He rolled and got tho. "big three" split. Bockholt did some niftv peg-scattering in both leagues, the City and the Two-man, Two-man, breaking the record high three score in the former with GT0. That was just two pins above the mark set by Henager at the beginning of the season. In the Two-man league he spilled the maples for a total of 640, making 1310 pins in the six games, which undoubtedly gives him the jewel for consistency. In some match games during the week Jensen of the Commercial league did some thrilling spilling when he upset 500 pins in two consecutive games. His first score was 235 and the second 2G5. which gives him high single score for the week. Taylor, Tay-lor, also of the Commercial league, stepped out and smashed the high individual indi-vidual score for that league and for all the other leagues, for that matter. He pushed 25S of the wooden soldiers in the trenches, beating Bourne's mark of 254 in the Commercial and A. W. Smith's 257 in the City league. The Cubs have won five out of six In the past week. They now lead the league in total pins for the first time during the season, and they shot two scores above the 1000 mark, all of which seems to point to an early clinching of the pennant in the City league unless the other quints show some rare speed mighty suddenly. Danley and Hanes swapped places with Davis and Qulnn In the Two-man league, the latter pair dropping to fourth and the former taking third position. Smith and Bockholt piled up 1261 in their match, which Is a new mark for a couple In the Two-man division, and "Pop" Hanes has camped on Walters' s trail for the top of the column in averages. "Pop" has an average of 1S3-3, as against 188-23 for Walters. The closest race for first-place honors Is being staged in the Commercial league, with the American Foundry tied with Schramm -Johnson for it and the Union Assay crew just one notch to the south. On total pins the American Foundry has a shade on the Schramm-Johnson boys. Taylor of the Boston Store now occupies the niche reserved for the high single peg spiller, as he tripped 258 the first time up In his match last week, beating Bourne's former mark of 254. High three was given another boost by the Union Assay five Friday night, when they totaled to-taled 2625 pegs. Those leaders wo'ild do well to keep their eye on this bunch, as they are going good just now and are apt to give most anyone a bad couple o'f hours at the bowling game. Some of the interesting features of the past week in Knights of Columbus bowling bowl-ing circles were the visit of the Oeden K. C. pin clouters and the resulting havoc to the local supremacy and the pretty climb of Nolan to first place again, after having dropped into second the week before. be-fore. He had to shoot nearly 600 to bring his average back to 161. and it looks now as though he is going to stay around that vicinity for some time. The Pintas, who have been shooting so well for the past month or so, ran afoul of some tough sledding last week and dropped a pair, but they stitl have a husky lead for first and are In fear of no one but the Cordovas. Cor-dovas. Telephone league fans have just about awarded the pennant to the Maintenance crew, as they have a wonderful lead over all the other teams. Jeglum still leads in the Individual averages. The Tele-i Tele-i phone leaguers expect to pull off an endurance en-durance contest in the near future, which , is bound to be a hummer, aa some of these boys are huskies. R. P. Macmillan of Park City dropped in and issued a defl to any team of bowlers bowl-ers to come up there and roll his champs a series of games. He prefers a Commercial Com-mercial league quint, as he thinks they would just about make it an even match. He wants them to come on Washington's birthdav if possible, and lie is going to blow them to a feed and a dance and then take them through the mines.
