Cook, the new business manager man-ager of the Salt Lake club, arrived last sail he was glad to get into the har-morning, har-morning, in order to lose no time in setting set-ting the baseball wheels in motion. He said lie wo glad to set into the harness har-ness and had no doubt it would fit hira pretty well within a few days. To order to take away any excess of conceit con-ceit Cook mi,crht have brought with him , from the coast, President Murphy last i nU'ht took him down the line at pocket billiards, which, judging from Cook's -reputation as a star at that game, Tvas a feat of which the prexy was justly proud. President Murphv yesterday received a letter from Jimmy Shinn in which the Saint outfielder said that while he was not entirely satisfied with his contract con-tract he would report at training camp and talk it over. President Murphy also received an offer from Dwiny IShay of the Milwaukee Milwau-kee club, offering to trade - Harry Moran. a left-hander, for Dutch KJ a witter. wit-ter. Moran won a. great reputation in the Federals and went to Pittsburg when the independents quit business. The Salt Lake club has a surfeit of lefthanders, left-handers, and likely will nob make the swap. Klawitter would be a valuable man for the Saints if he can get rid of some of his excess weight. |
