Show SCHOOLS MAY PLAY HE HOOP BATTLES Inclement Weather Causes Coaches to Think Basketball Basket-ball Instead of Track. The present unusual weather throughout through-out I"tah has had a dampening effect on high school baseball and track. For years the custom has been to start preliminary pre-liminary work for spring athletics immediately im-mediately after basketball has had its inning, but with six inches, of snow still on the ground it takes more than a coach to decide on aD outdoor campaign. In fact, the weather has no appearance appear-ance of being for track and baseball. Basketball is the king sport in tho winter win-ter and there is some talk of playing some more hoop contests. Tooele is the first school to make known that it will probably play one or two more games, while it is not at all improbable that Branch Agricultural college will take on a few real fast opponents this month. The late start in spring work, that is the outdoor practice, is expected to have little effect on the athletes. The men who are expected to do much in the division meets arc always in fair condition and are doing enough in the gymnasium to keep in shape. |
