Show ARRESTS ARE MADE UNDER LIQUOR LAW PROVO, March .17. The first arrests under the new "bootlegging" law passed by the Twelfth legislature and approved by the governor March 13, have been made .here. D. W. Sabin and Frank Jackson were arrested Friday afternoon af-ternoon by City Marshal Jesse Manwar-iug Manwar-iug as they came in from Salt Lake with a package of whisky thirty-two pint bottles in their possession. Sabin entered a pleaof guilty today in Precinct Justice E. L. Jones's court, lie was fined $30, or in default of payment pay-ment sentenced to serve fifty days in the county jail. Jackson, who claims he was only carrying the liquor for Sabin, Sa-bin, pleaded not guilty. His hearing was set for Tuesday. Joseph Spring of' Thistle, on his wav homo from Salt Lake over the Denver S: Rio Grande, was arrested by Deputy Sheriff C. H. Clark. Spring claimed two suitcases full of liquor. He gave $75 cash bail for his appearance before Precinct Pre-cinct Justice Jones next Friday. |
