NEW UTAH TIRE INDUSTRY; INVENTOR HEADS COMPANY Headed by Leo .lacobsen. an inventor who is recognized by the United States government as one 'of the ablest men in his profession in the United States, the Utah Tire Moulders company, incorporated, in-corporated, last week began operations in its new tiro factory at '16 Exchange place, Salt Lake. The advent of this company, with Mr. Jacobscn as its chief executive and inventor, in-ventor, into the tire business of the lioeky mountain west inaugurates what is confidently believed will be a new era in the remaking of automobile tires. Mr. Jacobsen is the inventor of a process whereby badly worn casings are remade into tires that Mr. Jacobscn and his associates guarantee will run another 4000 miles. Before coming to Utah Mr. Jacobsen was well known as an inventor in New York City for fifteen years, his ability being recognized by the United States government on several occasions. For several years he concentrated and de-' de-' voted his entire time to a study of economv in tire expense, with the result re-sult that he invented and perfected a mold for the remaking of automobile tires that is the only one of its kind in the world. Old casings, no matter how badly worn, are taken by the Utah Tire Moulders Mould-ers company and stripped of their old rubber. The carcass only is used in remaking re-making tho tire and entirely new rubber rub-ber goes onto this carcass by means of Mr. Jacobsen 's patented mold. This mold, weighing from 1000 to 1800 pounds, melts the new rubber into the carcass. The entire work of remaking a tire takes but twenty-four hours, and with a sufficient number of molds Mr. Jacobsen can turn out thirty thousand tires in a week if necessary.
