Show CALUMET ME ' IS GOOD OUTPUT Tenth Car, Just Settled For, Runs Better Than Twenty Per Cent Lead. The bill of lading was received at the Calumet Mining company's office for lot No. 11, which was shipped from Sahara, Sa-hara, Iron county, Friday. The tenth car, which was 'settled for yesterday, ran a little more than 20 per cent lead, which gave it a gross value of $36 a ton. The ore was the first taken from the new slope under the big cave at the mine and was lower than the average grade. Lot No. 11 includes high-grade galena, running as high as S2.7 per cent lead, and is expected to bring a much higher price. ' Other cars will follow, the officers ot the company state, as fast as the ore can be moved from the mine to the railroad, a distance ' of twenty-eight miles. The ore body is getting bigger and richer as the stope under the cave is extended and there seems to be no doubt that the Calumet will be one of the big producers of lead in that section sec-tion of the country. The fact that the Moscow, in the same mineral zone, has recently opened three feet of solid galena at a depth of 800 feet is regarded by the Calumet officers of-ficers as proof that the values go to the deep, so that at sixty feet, the present depth of their workings, they should be virtually at the top of their ore deposit. |
