Wood, Expert Orchardist and Grape Raiser, Will Talk to Val Verda Owners at Commercial Club Coming as one of the moat interesting interest-ing announcements of the early season in local realty circles is the news that George C. Wood'idely known throughout through-out "Utah as one of the most successful grape raisers in the entire intermountain intermoun-tain west, as well as an expert orchardist orchard-ist and farmer, will address a meeting meet-ing of the owners of Val "Verda home-sites, home-sites, together with others interested in this tract of property, at the Commercial Com-mercial club Friday evening, March 23. Mr. Wood owns, and for forty years has farmed, the land lying immediately to the south of Val Verda, the beautiful beau-tiful tract of acre-homesites seven and a half miles north of Salt Lake on the i Centerville car lino that is attracting so much attention. i Thirty-five years ago Mr. Wood be- ' gan raising grapes, and today ho has more than thirty acres in grapes, avei aging nearly forty varieties. Mr. Wood ' declares that from these thirty acres of grapes he makes more tha'n $450 I net profit jier acre each year. Mi Wood 's fruits and vegetables have taken many prizes at the Utah state fair and in the forty years he has farmed the land adjoining Val Verda he has learned manv interesting features fea-tures of the soil of tnis bench land. He has groves of English walnut trees and almond nut trees. His watei melon patches average 432 melons to the ) acre. In years past Mr. Wood and his sons r have even cultivated a considerable por- i Hon of the land now included as a part of Val Verda itself. I Because of these things the Bettil yon Home Builders company, developers develop-ers of Val Verda, have been particularly particular-ly anxious to induce Mr. Wood to come to Salt Lake and make a talk to the men and women who have purchased acre-homesites at Val Verda, and who hope to make these acres produce practically prac-tically everything the family will eat throughout the year while the man ' of the hou?e still contnucs his work in the city, going to and from Val Verda by street car in twenty-five minutes from the heart of town.
