(Advertisement.) , l'ry'''r- A Mew "V Law - What It Means to 1 the Public and to the I Profession. -ig I have been asked repeatedly in the past few days -what I thought of the Dental Law signed bv Governor Bamberger Friday and how it would affect the Practice of Dentistry. 1 I nave no hesitancy in saying that if this law, as finally amended, ' X'S is honestly and impartially administered by fair, unbiased and competent ' L men the'result will be beneficial both to Dentists and to the Public. g My objection to the law as it was originally g " K drawn was that it placed in the hands of a few men 1 f the power to absolutely crush competition, satisfy . personal grudges, and practically crush the practice of brother dentists. 1 I The Committee of the House of Representatives which carefully con- S 9 sidered the bill evidently were of the same mind and withdrew some of I the objectionable features of the bill. The House promptly put some Q of them back in and passed the measure. The Senate Committee also saw the dangerous power conferred by 1 the bill and recommended that it not pass. The Senate outvoted the Committee and passed the measure by a vote of nine to seven. i 1 Governor Bamberger made it a law when he placed his signature to it. I So be it. I am too good a citizen to rail against the laws of my a State or Country, and too good a Dentist to fear them. I have not the slightest objection to hav- ing my office inspected in good faith any day or every day by any impartial and competent j official, because I pride myself on the fact j that I maintain one of the few model offices j in the city one of the few which sterilize every instrument, and employ every possible j means of securing sanitary conditions, but I did seriously object to allowing a competitor, i personally unfriendly to me and personally s interested in wiping out low prices and restor- I ing the dental fee bill to life, coming into my office with power to act as judge, jury and executioner. i Now that tho Legislature has taken this power out of the hands of I the Dental Board and placed it. in the hands of the Courts the lien in- i strumantal in framing trie bill have lost the weapon they hoped to eouceiil in the measure, and with it the power to punish those whom they cannot s control. j Well may the Dental Trust, exclaim, "Another suih victory (?) and jj we are lost. ' 1 '3 AND NOW A WORD to the good people of l"tah who had feared jj that by some hook or crook the Dental Trust might be able to "get rid of I Painless Withers" and restore the old regime of high-priced monopoly: f "HAVE NO PEAKS THIS OFFICE WILL CONTINUE TO i EXIST AND GROW SO LONG AS PEOPLE APPRECIATE i FAIR AND SQUARE DEALING, AND THERE IS NO LAW ON 1 I THE STATUTE BOOKS (NOR CAN ONE BE FRAMED) STRONG ENOUGH TO BOB YOU OF YOUR RIGHT TO GO -Jl WHERE YOU PLEASE FOR YOUR DENTAL WORK AND B TO DEMAND THAT FIRST-CLASS DENTAL SERVICES BE I SO PRICED THAT THE FAMILY IN ORDINARY C1RCUM- k STANCES MAY NOT BE FORCED TO NEGLECT THEIR .
