Show MORMONS OBSERVE RELIEF'S FOUNDING The seventy-fifth anniversary of the Relief society of the Mormon church is being celebrated this week by more than a thousand branches of the society. The organisation was established March 17, 1842. The society has a total membership of 41,274 women and was established at Nauvoo, 111., by Joseph Smith and his wife, Emilia gmith, was its first president. presi-dent. In celebration of the anniversary yesterday- a programme and a banquet were given" in Whitney hall. Thoso participating partici-pating in tho programme were Miss Frances Grant, Mrs. Edna Wells Sloan, Mrs. Katie Young Craft and Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Cain Patrick. The decorations were carried out in green and white colors, in honor of St. Patrick 's day. Special services will be held tonight by the Salt Lake stake women in the various wards. |
