Show MM. OUTING HELD ot mm. ORDERS Disabled Service Men Are Special Guests at Annual An-nual Picnic. General jollification marked the second sec-ond annual outing of the united fraternal fra-ternal societies of Utah, which took the form of a victory-peace celebration, at Lagoon yesterday. During the afternoon after-noon various athletic sports were featured. fea-tured. Arrangements were made so that each disabled soldier, sailor and marine was the guest of some group of f raternalists for lunch. The principal address was delivered by Judge Joshua A. Greenwood, who outlined out-lined the aims and objects of fraternal-ism fraternal-ism and tho jrrowth of fraternalism in Utah during xhe past year. The address ad-dress of welcome was given by H. M. Wolfe, president of the Utah Fraternal congress. Several musical numbers were furnished. The Boy Scouts, under the leadership of Oscar A. Kirkham, executive secretary secre-tary of the organization, attended the celebration. More than 100 boys were at the resort. There were in attendance 150 wounded wound-ed soldiers from tho port. Douglas army hospital. These men were the guests of the fraternal organizations, and Wero solicitouslj' cared for during the day. One incident of the day was the meeting of William Hor.spool and his mother unexpectedly in front of the band stand. The soldier, a member of the Forty-seventh infantry, arrived at Fort Douglas with the last contingent received there. Mother . and son had been endeavoring to get into communication communi-cation with each other, when they met at Lagoon. |
