Show MANEUVERS PLANNED FOR ATLANTIC FLEET N13WPORT. R. I., July 16. Admiral TTcnry B. 'Wilson, commander-in-chief of the Atlantic fleet, will have the big ships maneuver in the waters of Provlncetown, Portland and Gardiner's bay during most of the summer, according to word received re-ceived here, instead of using Narragan-sett Narragan-sett bay as the battleship base. Some years ago when the late Rear Admiral hobloy D- Evans commanded the North Atlantic fleet he abandoned Provlncetown as a base and sailed away with all his ships one summer day because the town authorities would not permit his men to plav baseball on Sunday. From that time until the United States entered the war tbe battleships came annually to Narra-gansett Narra-gansett bay. |
