Show BOSTON CARMEN TO QUIT WORK TODAY BOSTON, July 16. Members of the Boston Carmen's union will go on strike on the Boston elevated railway system tomorrow, in accordance with a strike vote taken Monday. An effort by city officials and union leaders at a mass meeting tonight to have the men postpone post-pone action was voted down. The controversy between the street car men and the Boston elevated was placed before the war labor board June 19. The men demand an eight-hour day and 73 V2 cents an hour. The strike was called in protest against delay by the board in announcing its award. |
